Waterford CIL worked with PQASSO (Practical Quality Assurance System for Small Organisations) from 2012 to 2019. Thereafter we started using the Improving Quality System as it was more suited to our organisation. We assessed ourselves against the guidance on good practice to cover key aspects of management and service delivery:

  • Accountable – governance, leadership and management
  • Welcoming – equality and diversity, service users and staff
  • Effective – planning, delivery, monitoring and evaluation of services
  • Sustainable – management of resources and risk

What progress have we made?

Thanks to the full commitment of our stakeholders, and with help from the Improving Quality team, tremendous work has been carried out to create and improve policies and procedures across every aspect of our activities. On assessment day in December 2019 our assessor was very understanding and complementary of how our diverse and busy organisation works.

Why is quality recognition important?

Gaining the Improving Quality Standard Certificate demonstrates that our organisation is committed to the services it provides to the community. It shows the efficiency and dedication of management and staff. By attaining this recognised level of quality, our organisation can demonstrate that it operates to the highest level of expectation. We will continue to use the Charities Governance Code from the Charities Regulator Ireland to meet the standards of quality and effectively manage and control Waterford CIL.
